Retiro / Poi retreat Sommières Fr 2019

En abril 2019 visité un pueblo con mucho encanto llamado Sommières, situado en el sureste de Francia. Allí se realizaba un evento que era de mi interés. Se trataba de un retiro de práctica Poi y Staff, de una semana de duración, organizado por Fusion Arts y Poi Retreat.com. Me sentí muy afortunada de poder participar en estos encuentros y compartir el dia a dia con artistas profesionales y grandes personas.

Creo que este retiro supuso todo un proceso de transformación. Realmente las Poi podian pasar a ser algo más serio en mi vida y no solamente tratarse de un juego o un pasatiempo. Supuso también una gran inspiración, pues su práctica en otro contexto más 'serio' como podia ser el de un escenario, le daba un giro diferente o un cambio de visión al arte de esta práctica. Fueron varios los elementos que hicieron especial la noche de Gala en la que el hecho de subirse a un escenario, en este caso uno muy especial ya que se trataba de una plataforma en medio de una ciudad antigua en plena naturaleza, sumado al elemento de fuego de las Poi hacian que la experiencia fuera excitante (¡iba enserio!). Además, la exposición a los demás, me hacia sentir tan vulnerable en ese momento. Solamente escuchar la música y el empezar a moverme a su ritmo podia 'relajarme' y pasar asi a un dejarme llevar, poco a poco, a disfrutar del momento y olvidar que todos estaban ahí mirando. 

¿Qué decir de la parte social? En este retiro he conocido a gente maravillosa con la que a dia de hoy sigo en contacto y con la que he compartido otros momentazos. Personas con las que siento una conexión 'para toda la vida' y en las que siento un gran apoyo para seguir adelante, compartiendo proyectos y sueños de vida :)

In April 2019 I visited a charming town called Sommières, located in the south-east of France. There was an interesting event, a week-long Poi and Staff retreat organized by Fusion Arts and Poi Retreat.com. I felt very fortunate to be able to participate in these meetings and share the day to day with a professional artists and great people. 

I think this retreat was a whole transformation process. Poi could become something more serious in my life and not just be a game or a hobby. It was also a great inspiration, since it practice in another more 'serious' context such as a stage, gave a different twist or a change of vision to the art of this practice. There were several elements that made the Gala night special in which the fact of getting on a stage, in this case a very special one because it was a platform in the middle of an ancient city in the nature, added to the element of fire of the Poi made the experience exciting (It was serious!). Also, exposure to others made me feel so vulnerable at that moment. Just listening to the music and starting to move to its rhythm could 'relax' and thus go on to letting myself go, little by little, to enjoy the moment and forget that everyone was there watching.  

What to say about the social part? In this retreat I have met wonderful people with whom I am still in contact today and with whom I have shared other beautiful moments. People with whom I feel a connection 'for life' and in whom I feel great support to move forward, sharing projects and dreams of life :)

Escapada a Noruega / Norway 2019

En septiembre de 2019 visité Noruega por primera vez. La excusa era la de asistir a un festival llamado "Flow camp 2019" organizado por Art of Flow y visitar a un amigo de allí que participaba dando un taller y haciendo una performance. Por cierto, resultó ser una performance ¡muy mágica!

Qué decir de Noruega... ¡preciosa! Me enamoró; su gente, tan amable y considerada con el visitante. Esa naturaleza tan verde, la variedad de sus setas servidas directamente, del bosque al plato. Me chocaron tantos dias de lluvia, fina y constante, esta puso a prueba mi poca resistencia al frio en un septiembre de dudoso verano, especialmente viniendo del agosto de Ibiza. Decir, que mi poca preparación para el viaje tuvo algo que ver con eso y estuve tan agradecida por la calidad de las prendas de personas generosas que allí se encontraban...

Creo que la palabra FLOW resume lo que fue para mi la experiencia de este campamento, resultó ser completito con su diversidad de talleres, con la música de un fantástico dj, acampados en tan bella naturaleza y con un espacio reservado para el FUEGO. Se podia sentir como el suceder de las cosas, actividades se encontraba en un estado de continuo dinamismo (fluir). Habia unas tienditas, e incluso un restaurante, totalmente integrados y camuflados en el bosque. Pude participar en diferentes talleres de profesionales del performance (la mayoria locales) y llevarme unas pinceladas que dejaron su huella de otras actividades no tan relacionadas con Poi.

Sin ninguna duda, una hermosa experiencia y del todo enriquecedora. Aprendí mucho de la vivencia y algo que recuerdo especialmente de los Noruegos, fue que, a pesar del mal tiempo y con la ayuda de un buen fuego, puedes seguir practicando al aire libre. Last September 2019 I visited Norway for the first time. The excuse was to attend a festival called "Flow camp 2019" organized by Art of Flow and visit a friend from there who participated by giving a workshop and doing a performance. It was a very magical performance! 

What to say about Norway ... beautiful! I fell in love: with its people, so kind and careful with the visitor. That green nature, the variety of its mushrooms served, from the forest directly to the plate. I was hit by so many days of rain, too many days with constant rain, this tested my little resistance to the cold in a September of doubtful summer, specially travelling from the august of Ibiza island. Something to say, my little preparation for the trip wasn't the best and I was so grateful for the quality of the clothes from generous people who were nearby. 

I think the word FLOW resumes what the experience of this camp was for me, it was so complete with its diversity of workshops, with the music of a fantastic dj, camped in such beautiful nature and with a space reserved for FIRE. It could feel like the happening of things, activities were in a state of continuous dynamism (flow). There were some little shops and even a restaurant, totally integrated and camouflaged in the forest. I was able to participate in different workshops of professionals (mostly local) and take a few brushstrokes that left their mark on other activities not so related to Poi. 

A beautiful and completely enriching experience. I learned a lot from the  experience and something that I specially remember from the Norwegians, was that, despite the bad weather and with the help of a good fire, you can continue practicing outdoors. Up some pictures from the event.
